Hired as an assistant coach for the Dodge City Legend, Mike T worked under head coach Cliff Levingston (former NBA star/world champion with the Chicago Bulls) and General Manager Tom Nelson for the 2002 USBL season.  Fab 5 guard Jimmy King, the Big O Oliver Miller and KU Jayhawk star Kenny Gregory highlighted the Legend team which finished 12-18 before being eliminated in the quarterfinals of the the USBL Post Season Festival by the Kansas Cagerz at Mark Price Arena in Enid, Oklahoma.  Assisting with bench coaching, practices and game preparation, Taylor also served as interim head coach for the Legend for a two game stint earning a road win over the St Louis Skyhawks in the process.  Prior to the season, Mike T scouted the Portsmouth Invitational for Dodge City and was intrumental in helping the team prepare for the USBL draft.  Taylor also helped players Sly McIntosh, Rah Shun Roberts, Ty Mack and Javar Cheatham get opportunities with Dodge City.  While in Dodge, Taylor roomed with 2004 USBL Coach of the Year Dale Osbourne who works as top assistant for the CBA's Gary Steelheads and also has been an assistant with the WNBA's San Antonio Silver Stars for 2003 and 2004.  Keeping in contact with many friends from Dodge City, Mike T returned to work with Dodge City High School boys basketball players during the summer of 2003 and attended the USBL Post Season Festival in 2003 when Levingston guided the Legend to the USBL tournament championship in a classic victory over Pennsylvania Valley Dawgs.
