8 Point Play Pushes Gottingen Past Ulm!
Tied 69-69 with 7 seconds to play, ratiopharm Ulm and Gottingen were locked in a intense basketball game set up for a fantastic finish Saturday night at Lokhalle. But the game took a strange turn as the Violets pulled out the old '8 point play' to ice the game in the final 2 seconds earning an 80-69 win. 8 point play? After officials changed a call awarding Violet center Jason Boone with a three point play, Gottingen held a 72-69 lead. Ulm turned the ball over on the ensuing inbound and was forced to immediately foul again with 2.4 seconds left. Already behind the eight ball, Ulm was hit with three technical fouls and Head coach Mike Taylor was ejected giving Gottingen eight straight free throws to seal the result. The unusual ending is surely one of the strangest finishes to a basketball game ever seen.

RATIOPHARM ULM BEATS BREMERHAVEN ON HISTORIC NIGHT!
ratiopharm Ulm exploded to a 32 point first quarter building a 21 point lead before sealing a 99-87 home win over Eisbaren Bremerhaven on an historic evening at Sportszentrum Kuhberg in Ulm. Captain Lee Humphrey drilled 5 of 7 threes topscoring with 20 points and power forward Christian Burns posted a strong 16 point 11 rebound double double leadng ratiopharm Ulm's terrific team performance that included 58% shooting and 12 of 21 from three for the game. Beating Bremerhaven for the first time at Sportszentrum Kuhberg, ratiopharm Ulm sweeps their two games over the Eisbaren this season. Taking positive steps toward establishing their own identity as the next generation of ratiopharm Ulm basketball, the young Ulm team earned a milestone victory in Saturday nights success for the successors. W in Dusseldorf!
One second can change a game. Trailing by one, 71-70 with 33 seconds to play, ratiopharm Ulm dug in for a Dusseldorf endline inbound play with one second remaining on the shot clock. In an instant, a deflection and loose ball recovered by Rocky Trice ignited an Ulm 2 on 1 fast break that Robin Benzing finished with a two hand slam giving Ulm a 72-71 lead with 18 seconds to play. Moments later it was rookie Robin Benzing cooly sinking two clutch free throws lifting Ulm to the hardfought victory. Coleman Collins was in top form leading Ulm's attack with 22 points 4 boards while Rocky Trice added a 17 point 10 rebound double double and Robin Benzing finished with 15 points including 7 in the last two minutes helping Ulm seal the win. ALBA TOPS ULM!
ratiopharm Ulm fell behind a focused ALBA Berlin team Saturday night as ALBA took control early and played like the first place team in the BEKO Bundesliga. Finally finding energy with five minutes remaining in the game, ratiopharm Ulm stormed back in a terrific late-game comeback attempt. But the poised league leaders from Berlin closed out a competitive 86-77 victory over ratiopharm Ulm before a sold out Sportszentrum Kuhberg.

ratiopharm Ulm and Deutsche Bank Skyliners competed throughout a game that saw 17 lead changes and 11 ties, but it was Aubrey Reese's clutch three point jumpshot with just over 1 minute to play that helped the Skyliners edge Ulm in a hardfought game Saturday night at Ballsporthalle in Frankfurt. Returning home to face his hometown team, ratiopharm Ulm's Robin Benzing led the attack scoring 20 points on 4 of 7 three point shooting while Christian Burns added 15 points 6 boards and Coleman Collins finished with 13 points 6 rebounds for Ulm.

HAGEN GESCHLAGEN!
ratiopharm Ulm returned to Bundesliga action with an important 87-72 home win over Phoenix Hagen Saturday night at a sold out Sportszentrum Kuhberg in Ulm. A terrific team effort on both ends of the floor, ratiopharm Ulm put five players in double figures on offense while limiting Hagen to 37% shooting and outrebounding the Phoenix 47-39. Refreshed and energized after an excellent three week break that included a team trip to China and the addition of center Kevin Martin, ratiopharm Ulm's positive performance produced a terrific team win like 'Hagen Geschlagen.'

RATIOPHARM ULM AND RADIO7 TEAM UP FOR PEP BAND VS HAGEN!
Like a bugel blowing 'revele', ratiopharm Ulm and Radio7 are teaming up to rally support for Saturdays home game against Phoenix Hagen. Forming the first 'ULMER PEP BAND', all fans bringing musical instruments to Sportszentrum Kuhberg for Saturday's home game receive free admission and are encouraged to be loud and rowdy supporting the Ulm team. Making an appearance Tuesday morning at the Radio7 studios joining popular morning show personalities Andi Sheiter and Jack Krispin, ratiopharm Ulm head coach Mike Taylor and All Star point guard Per Gunther promoted the event while demonstrating their lack of musical skills. Fans can listen to the Morning show from 5am to 9am Wednesday morning on Radio7.

South Tops North 102-92!
RATIOPHARM ULM'S BENZING AND GUNTHER ENJOY ALL STAR DAY!
Celebrating basketballl in Germany with a fun-filled and entertaining day, the South team topped the North 102-92 putting the finishing touches to Beko BBL All Star Day Saturday January 23rd, 2010 at Telekom Dome in Bonn. Representing their organization extremely well, ratiopharm Ulm young talents Robin Benzing and Per Gunther helped the South team to victory as both enjoyed their first Bundesliga All Star experience together. Basketball fans voted both Benzing and Gunther into the starting five for the South team with Robin leading the Bundesliga in votes.

STRAIGHT TO CHINA!
RATIOPHARM ULM SPLITS TWO EXHIBITION GAMES IN CHINA!
ratiopharm Ulm completed a fantatic trip to Chengdu China by splitting a pair of exhibition games against Beijing Aoshen Olympians this weekend at Chengdu Sports Institute. A terrific team-building and life experience, Ulm enjoyed a tour of Chengdu's respected Panda Bear breeding park while discovering a new culture and seeing a different lifestyle in Chengdu, China's fifth largest city with over 10 million population. Manning a roster featuring several Chinese national team players including former LA Laker guard Sun Yue, Beijing played host to the exhibition games in Chengdu as benefit for the relief efforts towards the 2008 earthquake in the region of Sichuan Province just 50miles from the center of the city. The weekend resulted in a memorable experience for ratiopharm Ulm on and off the floor.

KAMPFENSIEG!
ratiopharm Ulm's took Sportszentrum Kuhberg for an emotional rollercoaster ride in Saturday nights thrilling 84-80 overtime win over MiddleDeutscher Basketball Club. After an excellent first half, Ulm built a 16 point lead rolling with momentum thanks to tremendous defensive effort and terrific teamwork. MBC battled back switching to a zone defense, outscoring Ulm 19-7 in the third and taking a 4 point lead late in the game. Ulm responded with a last minute run putting themselves in a position to win. Leading by three 69-66 with seconds to play, a game-tying left corner three from Wayne Bernard stunned ratiopharm Ulm and Sportszentrum Kuhberg focing overtime. But this roller coaster ride had a happy ending for ratiopharm Ulm as the team stepped up to seal the game earning the hardfought 84-80 overtime win. Fighting through the ups and downs of the game, staying tough through the momentum swings, Saturday's exciting home win was a classic 'kampfensieg' for ratiopharm Ulm.

ULM'S COLD NIGHT!
With snow falling outside in Bonn over the weekend, temperatures dropped in the former West German capital city. Sunday evening, Ulm's ballmovement nearly froze and the teams offense went cold in an 82-59 road loss at Telekom Dome in Bonn. As Bonn capitalized on several Ulm defensive breakdowns, the hosts put together a late first half run building a 42-31 lead. Missing ballmovement, Ulm's offense sputtered to 5 assists for the game and 28 points in the last twenty minutes as Bonn broke the game open hitting 6 of 11 threes in the second half. Coleman Collins led Ulm's attack with 16 points 9 boards in the loss. Like the winter temperature dip, Ulm's season of highs and lows continued with a cold night in Bonn.

After three straight road wins in Paul Horn Arena, ratiopharm Ulm came up short in the heated Baden Wurtemburg Derby against rival Walter Tigers Tubingen Wednesday night December 30th. Starting strong, Ulm held a 17-16 lead after one quarter, but a second quarter Tiger run gave the hosts a 44-34 halftime advantage. Ulm trimmed the gap early in the second half, but a key Tubingen run helped the Tigers take control of the game late in the third. DRAGONS HEAT UP IN 4TH!
A decisive late fourth quarte run lifted the Artland Dragons to a hardfought 72-62 win over ratiopharm Ulm Friday night at Sportszentrum Kuhberg in Ulm. In a back and forth game through the first three quarters, Ulm offense sputtered in the fourth quarter as Artland outscored Ulm 19-11 down the stretch as Ulm shot 39% for the game. The lack of offensive production spoiled a solid team defensive and strong rebounding effort from ratiopharm Ulm. Power forward Christian Burns led Ulm scoring with a 20 point 7 rebound performance in the loss.

1 POINT FOR 1 POINT!
ratiopharm Ulm picked up a new point guard over the weekend when Austen Rowland transferred from LTi Giessen 46ers back home to Ulm where he played in 2006-2007 and led the Bundesliga in assists. But Giessen blocked Rowland's release leading to week-long pre-game exchanges between the two organizations that led to Bundesliga involvement. While Ulm picked up a point, saturday night, the 46ers picked up a 1 point 73-72 win over ratiopharm Ulm. In the hardfought game, Ulm held a late 72-70 lead with one minute to play, but Giessen's David Teague finished a tough runner and made one of two free throws to lift the 46ers to the win. Ulm played without sharpshooting captian Lee Humphrey who was suffering from the flu. Ulm outshot the 46ers 50% to 42% but Giessen's 19 offensive rebounds and 39-30 advantage on the backboards were key for the 46ers.

ratiopharm Ulm's Rocky Trice hit a mid-lane leaner with 29 seconds to play and Per Gunther took a charge in the closing seconds lifiting Ulm to a thrilling 75-72 home win over NewYorker Phantoms Braunschweig Saturday night at Sportszentrum Kuhberg in Ulm. Christian Burns topscored for Ulm with 20 points 7 rebounds while Rocky Trice added 18 points and Lee Humphrey hit 3 of 5 threes adding 15 points to the win. A first half of runs, Ulm opened a 28-12 lead after one quarter before Braunschweig battled back to take a 42-41 lead at half. The exciting second half saw both teams make big plays on both ends of the floor. But the game's biggest plays belonged to Ulm as their team effort was highlighted by Rocky Trice's game-deciding basket and Per Gunther's tough D. Saturday night against Braunschweig, with the game on the line, Ulm took charge!

In the win, Robert Garrett (5 for 5), Karsten Tadda (4 for 4) and Casey Jacobsen (3 for 5) were so hot, the Bamberg three point shooters set off the JAKO Arena fire alarm. Falling behind early, Ulm's second and third quarter comeback attempts were foiled by Bamberg's hot-three point shooting. Robin Benzing paced the Ulm attack with 16 points while Lee Humphrey added 13 points and Rocky Trice chipped in 10.

ratiopharm Ulm controlled Saturday nights Schwabische Derby against EnBW Ludwigsburg for 37 minutes, but a late Ludwigsburg run helped the hosts take an 80-71 home win live on DSF TV. Ulm's strong effort was led by Lee Humphrey's 15 points on 5 for 7 three point shooting and Robin Benzing's 14 points off the bench. YES!
CITIES OF ULM AND NEU ULM APPROVE NEW ARENA PROJECT!
Wednesday night in Ulm, the cities of Ulm and Neu Ulm voted for a new Arena to be built at the Neu Ulm Volksfestplatz in a project that benefits the entire Ulm region while creating the new home for ratiopharm Ulm basketball. After decades of basketball tradition played in Sportszentrum Kuhberg, a new era was tipped off Wednesday November 11th, 2009 with the approval of the 'Multifunktionshalle'. For ratiopharm Ulm basketball, the new arena raises the ceiling of potential for the organization and allows tremendous room for development and growth. Of all the victories on the basketball floor, Wednesday night's 'YES' vote from the cities of Ulm and Neu Ulm is one of the most important steps for the future of Bundesliga basketball on the Donau.

HUMPHREY'S HOT HAND!
ratiopharm Ulm captain Lee Humphrey hit a Bundesliga record 8 of 10 three pointers igniting his team to an exciting 101-88 home win over Gottingen Violets Saturday night at Sportszentrum Kuhberg in Ulm. Lee's fantastic 24 point shooting display was part of an Ulm offensive effort that hit 54% from the floor, 11 of 25 threes (44%), 22 of 25 free throws (88%) and dished out 17 assists. BOUNCING BACK!
RATIOPHARM ULM SHOWS HEART; WINS IN BREMERHAVEN!
After Friday nights 28 point home debacle against Dusseldorf, no one expected ratiopharm Ulm to win in Bremerhaven. But ratiopharm Ulm rallied together and played with tremendous heart in earning a hardfought 85-80 road win over the Eisbaren Sunday afternoon at Stadthalle Bremerhaven. Christian Burns led the Ulm attack with a 22 point 7 rebound performance while Per Gunther and Coleman Collins added 14 points apiece, Lee Humphrey hit 3 of 5 threes for 12 points and Rocky Trice finished with 11 points 4 boards 5 steals in the Ulm win. Ulm's young team showed tremendous heart in their 'bounce back win' Sunday in Bremerhaven.

Dusseldorf Debacle!
A 20-0 Dusseldorf run and 1 for 24 three point shooting frustrated ratiopharm Ulm in Friday nights 88-60 home debacle against the Dusseldorf Giants at Sportszentrum Kuhberg in Ulm. Holding a 40-38 late first half lead, several turnovers rattled ratiopharm Ulm as the young team lost their composure giving Dusseldorf a 50-40 halftime lead. Ulm's 0 for the second half three point shooting frustrated the young team as Dusseldorf ran away with the game in the second half.

ALBA STOPS ULM!
ratiopharm Ulm met a motivated ALBA Berlin team Sunday night at O2 World Arena in Berlin and the result was a 78-56 home win for Berlin. Hungry and focused after a Friday night road loss in Tubingen, ALBA returned home and flexed their muscles against Ulm. Berlin's Julius Jenkins sank 6 of 9 threes to topscore with 22 points while big man Blagota Sekulic added 17 points 9 boards in the win. Christian Burns led Ulm's offense with 14 points 6 rebounds while Robin Benzing chipped in 12 points and Coleman Collins finished with 10 points 5 rebound in the loss.

ULM OUTSCORED BY SKYLINERS!
ratiopharm Ulm and Frankfurt exchanged baskets in an exciting first half, but it was the Skyliners late second quarter run that helped them take control of the game and eventually earn a hardfought 95-82 road win at Sportszentrum Kuhberg in Ulm. Seth Doliboa led the Skyliners with 23 points while Derrick Allen added 21 points for Frankfurt. Ulm's defense allowed Frankfurt to shoot 58% from the floor and Ulm's offense was led by 19 points 8 rebounds from Christian Burns. Robin Benzing and Coleman Collins scored 16 points apiece and Ulm also received 15 points 4 rebounds 4 assists from Rocky Trice.

ULM LEAVES POINTS IN HAGEN!
ratiopharm Ulm controlled the action leading for most of Sunday nights game, but six missed free throws in the final two minutes and a fouled three point shooter gave Phoenix Hagen their chance --- and a cool Chase Griffin capitalized. Despite six missed free throws down the stretch, ratiopharm Ulm's Rocky Trice sank two clutch foul shots putting Ulm in a position to win. Leading 75-73 with 4 seconds to play, Ulm needed one defensive stop to even their record at 2-2 on the young Beko Bundesliga season. But a crafty Griffin, drew a foul while shooting a three from the top of the key and proceeded to sink three straight free throws lifting Hagen to the thrilling come-from-behind win.

ULM EARNS FIRST WIN!
ratiopharm Ulm earned their first win of the 2009-2010 Beko Bundesliga season beating brose Baskets Bamberg 76-75 Friday night at Sportszentrum Kuhberg in Ulm. Rocky Trice cooly sank two free throws putting Ulm up one with 15 seconds to play and Ulm's defense held on as two Bamberg game winning attempts rimmed out before the buzzer sounded ending the game. Rocky Trice led all scorers with 24 points 6 rebounds while Christian Burns added 16 points 8 boards and Coleman Collins chipped in 15 points 7 rebounds to the Ulm win.

SLOW START STYMIES ULM!
Facing a wave of emotion and enthusiasm from the east German crowd, ratiopharm Ulm started slow falling behind 25-9 after the first quarter as MittelDeutscher Basketball Club raised their Pro A championship banner and celebrated their return to the Bundesliga playing the first home game at Stadthalle since financially crashing in 2004. Ulm fought back throughout the game outscoring MBC in each of the final three quarters, but in the end, the Wolves held on for the 96-84 victory Sunday evening at Stadthalle in Weissenfels Germany.

BONN TOPS ULM IN OPENER!
ratiopharm Ulm tipped off their 2009-2010 Beko Basketball Bundesliga season with a hardfought 89-81 home loss to Telekom Baskets Bonn Friday night at Sportszentrum Kuhberg in Ulm. After a slow start which saw Ulm trail 49-37 at half and by as many as 16 points in the third quarter, the young Ulm team stormed back taking a 66-65 lead into the fourth. But experience and big shots from Vincent Yarbrough and Artur Kolodziejski pushed Bonn to the road win. Robin Benzing and Lee Humphrey scored 15 points apiece to pace the Ulm attack.

Ulm Tops Tubingen Preseason Finale!
ratiopharm Ulm completed their 2009 preseason with an exciting 84-81 road win over rival Walter Tigers Tubingen Friday night at Uhlandhalle in Tubingen. Coleman Collins was in top form scoring a game high 25 points with 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the win while Rocky Trice hit several clutch baskets down the stretch as part of his excellent 21 point 7 rebound performance for Ulm. Along with the effort of Collins and Trice, rookie forward Robin Benzing added 14 points and team captain Lee Humphrey returned to action hitting 4 threes for 12 points 3 assists.

Ulm Falls to Bamberg in Scrimmage
ratiopharm Ulm lost power forward Christian Burns to an ankle injury early in the second half and the shorthanded Ulm squad fell off pace as brose Baskets Bamberg raced to an 85-69 victory in a Saturday scrimmage at JAKO Arena. Ulm entered Saturday's game without potential starting backcourt Per Gunther and captain Lee Humphrey, the team welcomed forwards Robin Benzing and John Bryant for their first game action of the preseason.

Ulm Enjoys Road trip to Austria
ratiopharm Ulm enjoyed their weekend road trip to Austria as they continued their preseason preparation for the 2009-2010 Bundesliga season. A terrific trip for the team on and off the floor, Ulm gained valuable experience playing together on the road against the top two Austrian teams Wels and Gmunden. Unfortunately for Ulm, Captain Lee Humphrey went down with an ankle injury early in the second quarter of Saturday nights game in Wels. Already shorthanded playing without Per Gunther, John Bryant and Robin Benzing, Ulm was left with five healthy players from their rotation and 4 youngsters. Despite the adversity, Ulm played very well as Rocky Trice, Christian Burns, Coleman Collins, Kevin Kanaskie and Sebastian Betz showed tremendous teamwork and competitiveness.

Ulm Beats Leitershofen in Friendly!
ratiopharm Ulm put five players in double figures and found plenty of playing time for their young players in Wednesday nights 101-61 preseason road win over the Leitershofen Red Kangaroos. Ulm's Rocky Trice hit 10 of 13 shots to top score with 20 points 5 rebounds while young post man Michael Wenzl produced a 15 point 12 rebound double double in the win. Sharpshooter Lee Humphrey buried 4 of 6 threes and Sebastian Betz sank 2 of 3 as both Ulm guards totaled 14 points apiece. Power forward Christian Burns scored 12 points and added 11 rebound to the Ulm win. As a team, Ulm shot 58% from the floor, made 7 of 16 threes (44%) and outrebounded the Red Kangaroos 48-20.

Ulm Captures 1st Fritz & Macziol Cup!
The Fritz & Macziol Cup has featured outstanding teams over its five years of existance as a preseason tournament in Ulm. Past champions have included Czech Republic power Nymburk, Italian first division team Reggio Emilia, Austrian power Gmunden Swans and Bundesliga teams DJK Wurzburg and Tubingen. Despite strong showings every year, ratiopharm Ulm had never won their own preseason tournament --- until 2009. With a newly formed young team playing through injuries and absence, ratiopharm Ulm claimed the organizations first Fritz & Macziol Cup championship Sunday afternoon at Sportszentrum Kuhberg with a 91-89 win over the All-Stars. Ulm Splits Opening Preseason Games!
ratiopharm Ulm split a pair of weekend games as they opened the 2009 preseason schedule. Coleman Collins scored 22 points and Rocky Trice added 17 as Ulm beat Nordlingen 80-71 in Saturday night's preseason opener. Sunday in Aalen, Ulm fell to Allianz Gmunden Swans. Coleman Collins was once again topscrorer with 23 points against Gmunden and Christian Burns added 19. After one week of practice, the weekend split was filled with positives as the young Ulm team saw their first game action together. The two games also provided Ulm with plenty of areas that need improvement as the team makes progress in the preseason.

ratiopharm Ulm forward Robin Benzing has earned a roster spot with the German National team as they travel to Poland for the 2009 European Championships. Robin
starred for the German National team in Thursday nights international friendly game at Europahalle against Slovenia. The talented young Benzing started against Slovenia and led Germany in scoring with a team best 13 points in the 74-62 loss in the teams final tune-up before the European Championships in Poland.

ratiopharm Ulm tipped off their 2009 preseason Saturday August 29th at Sportszentrum Kuhberghalle in Ulm, Germany. Excited about their new team and the new season, Ulm fans got their first look at the new faces with a Public practice Sunday August 30th at Sportszentrum Kuhberg. Ulm's first week of preseason workouts included two-a-day practices filled with skillwork, conditioning and introduction of the teams offensive and defensive systems. ratiopharm Ulm's Lee Humphrey makes a dribble move during public practice Sunday August 30th at Sportszentrum Kuhberg in Ulm. After leading the Bundesliga in three pointers made last season, Lee returns to Ulm for his second season and has been named team captain.
